Where did the name Stella Leona come from?

Leona Short Sauder was Nancy’s grandma. Leona and her sister, Estella Short, were both special ladies in Nancy’s childhood. Neither were chocolate or confection makers, but both were wonderful cooks and bakers with a knack for creating delicious foods from scratch. Both of them invested in Nancy’s life through their love and attention and by sharing amazing foods crafted with their own hands. She wanted a name for the business that sounded classy and was meaningful, and the combination of the first names of these women fit her vision for the business.

How long will my chocolates keep?

Each type of confection has a different shelf life depending on the ingredients used. We always recommend enjoying your chocolates within two weeks because the flavors and freshness are most intense during that time.

Chocolates should be stored at room temperature (ideally 65-75 degrees F) in a cool, dry place away from odors and direct sunlight. (The exception being the Heritage Collection which should be refrigerated until a couple of hours before enjoying.)

If the chocolates absolutely need to be stored longer than a few weeks, follow these instructions. Place the box in a sealed plastic bag in the refrigerator (up to 1 month). When removing the chocolates, allow the sealed chocolates to come to room temperature before opening.

Do you make custom gift boxes, trays or baskets?

Yes! You can place a custom order by calling the Pettisville shop at 419-445-0370 or by stopping in to see us there at 362 Main St. Pettisville, Ohio 43553.

Do you offer quantity discounts?

We are unable to offer quantity discounts. Our chocolates are made in small batches by hand, so our costs are the same per piece whether we make 100 or 1000.

What is ganache and how do you say it?

Ganache [guh-NOSH] is a filling made with chocolate and cream. It is the soft center of our Hand Painted and Truffle Collections. To Nancy, ganache is one of the most delicious foods in the universe!

Do your chocolates have allergens in them such as soy, nuts, dairy and gluten?

We make every effort not to cross contaminate our products. However, they are all produced in the same kitchen, so traces may be present even if they are not an ingredient. For further information, please see the ingredient list for each item or call the shop for any other specific ingredient-related question.

Do you have any sugar-free chocolates?

Yes! We offer Sugar-Free Chocolate Covered Almonds.

Can I include a note of greeting with my gift order?

Of course! We will hand write your greeting on a lovely notecard to include with your gift. Be sure to add your message in the “Order Notes” box at checkout just as you’d like it to be written.

What method will you use to ship my order?

All orders are sent via US Postal Service Priority Mail. Quite simply, it is the most cost-effective, efficient way to ship chocolates ensuring they arrive in a timely manner and in great shape.
